She died on 16 January 1868 at the age of 75 in Bowdoinham, Sagadahoc, ME.²³ Buried in Temple Randall Cemetery, Bowdoinham, ME. Some research says she was a distant relative of Josiah Parlin, step-father to Abijah's father. However, Lucy was a common name, and Parlin was not a rare surname. Research by Lynette Sekarski-Budding may shed light on her, but for the time being, it is hard to say just who she was. Lynette provided the following line of reasoning about whether she was related to Joseph Parlin: "There is a lack of evidence that she is from another Parlin. In The Parlin Genealogy by Frank E. Parlin, which Mr. Temple referenced, Lucy Parlin is the daughter of Mary Parlin and possibly Aaron Monroe. Mr. Temple suggest that Mary Parlin, stepdaughter to Sarah Parlin never married and is buried in the Randall-Temple cemetery in Bowdoinham, ME. I cannot find any records on Aaron Monroe (Munroe) other than the one small blip in The Parlin Genealogy next to Mary Parlin daughter of Josiah and Mary Parlin. And one other record - Carlisle Births on American Archives "Lucy, d. Mary, Apr. 3, 1793. ("Which Child the said Mary charged upon Aaron Munroe & Mr. Josiah Parl[ton] gave a Bond to endemnefy [sic] the District from the maintenance of Said Child untill it is twelve years old and Said Aaron Munroe a Bond to endemnify the Said District from the maintenance of Said Child after it is twelve years old."). I honestly do not know what that means other than it sounds like ordered child support. I'm suggesting that Josiah Parlin b. 1730, d. unknown, married his first cousin Mary Parlin b. 8 Apr 1733 on 25 Feb 1762, said Mary d. 13 Dec 1762, 7 days after giving birth to daughter Mary Parlin b. 6 Dec 1762, d. 13 Nov 1846. On 28 Feb 1765 Josiah Parlin married Sarah Hutchins Temple, the mother of John Temple b. 7 Oct 1756...With regards to Lucy Parlin Temple, I really believe she is the daughter of Mary Parlin and granddaughter of Josiah Parlin."
