Her career is described in the book "Crossed Currents." She graduated from high school in Media, PA, and enlisted in the Navy. During her career, she was an aircraft instrument mechanic, eventually achieving 13 different ratings, and became the only woman to earn the rank of Master Chief Aircraft Maintenanceman, a rating subsequently limited to males. She was the first enlisted woman to serve at the US base in Rota, Spain. She moved in 2002 in Whiting, Ocean, NJ.⁸⁹⁴⁷ Kathleen died on 20 December 2003 at the age of 80 in Norfolk City, VA.^{8947,8948,8949} The NJ death index indicates she died in NJ, but her obituary indicated Norfolk, VA.
