He served until discharged with a disability on 28 May 1865 in St. Louis, MO. His records indicate further that he suffered from nervous prostration, which he claimed to have contracted Sep 1901 in Mattoon, IL. He was educated law degree from Michigan University in 1870.²⁴⁴⁸⁴ In June 1870 he was a lawyer in Bloomington, McLean, IL.⁴⁴⁹⁰ In June 1880 Parke was a newspaper correspondent in Bloomington, McLean, IL.^51904,106961 He admitted to the National Disabled Soldiers Home between 1902 and 1905 in Marion, Grant, IN.¹¹⁷⁸³² He was admitted 26 Jan 1902 and discharged at his own request on 19 Jul 1902. Some sources give his place of death as Blooming Grove, Navarro, TX, but that is not correct, in that he died in the National Military Home in IN in 1905.

Died of a bowel obstruction. His estate was probated in McLean County, IL. Name appears both with and without the final E. The spelling here is that of the 1860 census. Some records indicate that his two wives were the same person, and that they simply married twice. Other records indicate they were sisters. Parents: William H.
