When Beatrice married Knight, she claimed her previous marriage had ended in death of her spouse, who, if true and not a substitute for admitting to a divorce, may have been a Funk.
In 1920, two Beatrices Funk were enumerated in IN. One was b 1903 and the other 1917. Of these, only one had a middle initial of R - and that was Beatrice, b 1917, daughter of Lee W. and Lucy M. Funk of Lafayette, Madison, IN. That also means she was about 12 when she gave birth to John Nathaniel Temple.
