Given how few Temple families were in Washington Territory around the time of statehood in 1892, it seems likely that James is of a closely related line to that of Edward R. Temple, son of Albert and Susannah (Peterman) Temple. He is almost certainly not confused with their son James Franklin Temple, but must be close, nevertheless.
