Terry G. Temple, in his book A Temple Family, cites "An interesting entry found in the court records of Hardin county is a charge of arson brought by Allen A.S. Temple against Benjamin Temple. Allen A. Temple, Hamilton Temple and Manuel Temple were called to give evidence before the grand jury on 24 Jul 1857. According to the indictment of the grand jury, Benjamin Temple, on 21 Jul 1857 'with force and arms...feloniously, unlawfully and maliciously did set fire to and burn a certain dwelling house, the property of Allen A. S. Temple.' ....On 29 November 1859, the prosecutor discontinued the action against Benjamin Temple, since the Allen A.S. Temple family had by then moved to Texas. However, the History of Jones County, MS, says he is buried in Barnes Cemetery, Hot Coffee, MS. His parents were both from GA.
