The marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Temple, found in Temple People Vol. 1 which is usually reliable, has not been found elsewhere and the timing is uncertain. She married him around the time of Lou Etta's marriage to Sam Copeland, or about 1916-1917, but that all requires proof. The relationships were very complicated here, since in addition to marrying Rebecca Cotten, daughter of Sarah Elizabeth Temple, Hiram and Sarah were related through John Lafayette Temple, making Hiram her nephew (despite the similarity of their ages).

His obituary listed no sons as survivors, whereas all three of his sons by Lou Etta and a fourth through Rebecca Cotton were survivors.

His birth date is identical to the birthdays of Hiram H.P. and Harrison B. Temple, off by one year (some fudge or transcription error) - and SSACI says his parents were Clark and Catherine (Winters [sic]) Temple of PA. SSACI also says he was going by Harold and that entered his Social Security papers in Jun 1942. Harrison is already accounted for in at least 1930, and Harrison was not in AL at that time. The marriage papers for his marriage with Zellar Peterson gave his name as Herman H. Temple. So, the conclusion is that Hiram H.P. Temple was going by Harold in 1930 and 1940 (possibly what the initial H stood for), and was the husband of Zellar Peterson.
