However, a great deal of evidence implies this, with no data to contradict it.

Terry G. Temple, in his book A Temple Family, cites "An interesting entry found in the court records of Hardin county is a charge of arson brought by Allen A.S. Temple against Benjamin Temple. Allen A. Temple, Hamilton Temple and Manuel Temple were called to give evidence before the grand jury on 24 Jul 1857. According to the indictment of the grand jury, Benjamin Temple, on 21 Jul 1857 'with force and arms...feloniously, unlawfully and maliciously did set fire to and burn a certain dwelling house, the property of Allen A. Andrew Jackson (Jack) TEMPLE(S)10069,10071,64014 was born on 10 January 1860 in Smith Co., MS.10072,10073,25019,25020,42912,64013 The 1900 Census gives 1861. However, the History of Jones County, MS, says he is buried in Barnes Cemetery, Hot Coffee, MS. His parents were both from GA.

Reported in Temple People as Jackson A., his family knew him as A.J. (Jack). His parents were both from MS. Also of interest, he and his wife are given as surname TEMPLE, but when his children are enumerated on the following page of the 1900 census, they are given surname TEMPLES. In 1910, however, he appears with the terminal S himself. In 1930 appears without the terminal S.

The Patton-Temple family Bible gives an Andrew Jackson Temple a death date of 22 Jan 1904, but this is clearly not Jack, as he lives on for two more censuses (at least ) after 1904. Parents: Private Needham H. TEMPLE(S)-40019 and Mary CORLEY-40020.

Anise J. TEMPLE(S) was born in 1857 in MO.7036 She appeared in the census in June 1860 in Castor, Stoddard, MO.7036 She died. Confusion exists about Anise and it has to do with the 1860 and 1870 censuses. In 1860 she was a female named Anise, but in 1870, it seems she was enumerated as a male, Amos. Amos and Anise have the same middle initial, same birth year, and their father(s) are variously named John, Jackson or James at times. Much work needs to be done to clarify the families of the apparent brothers John and James Temples.
I think it is likely that Anise was actually female, and was later given as Inez when she married a Campbell in Stoddard Co., MO. In her marriage, Inez said her parents were John Temples and Sarah Thomasson. Parents: James M. TEMPLE-35430 and Sarah E. -47533.

It may be that she was also known as Idell, but the birth dates known for this family are unreliable, so Idell may be her sister. In either case, Idell died in Jones Co., MS on 8 Mar 1927. Annie does not appear in the list of children in the History of Jones Co., MS, in an article written by Floye's daughter, but Idell does appear.
