This cannot be Mary Elizabeth, and may be the child identified as Eliza who married Littleton Robertson. There appears to be confusion over Eliza and Mary Elizabeth, causing Eliza to be unrecognized. However, she must be a separate child since Mary Elizabeth married Horatio Rudder, with whom she stayed until she died in 1858. He Assemblyman in 1824/5 in Prince George Co., VA.⁸¹²⁰¹ He succeeded Nathaniel Colley, who died before the beginning of the session of 1824-1825. He was subsequently elected in 1826, 1827, and 1828. Allen appeared in the census in 1830 in Prince George Co., VA.²⁰¹³⁷ Appears with his wife, Mary G. However, the family includes a male 20-30, probably not a member of the family, or an unidentified son. The latter is unlikely, as the son would have had to be declared in the tax roles, which he was not. Also included in the family were two other children, both age 0-5, one male and one female. The female was most likely Mary Elizabeth (not Eliza - see notes on Mary Elizabeth in 1820 census), and the male was Andrew Allen.

One alternative possibility exists, but is very low probability since it involves an undeclared son on the property tax roles. The male living with Allen and Mary in 1830, if age 20, would be the same male who appeared with Mary only in the 1840 census, but age 30. This would put him as having been born in 1810, and thereby a possibly undocumented son of Allen and Isabella. I think this is not a proper line of reasoning, however, as there were additional males in the family in all censuses prior to 1830 as well. He died in 1839 at the age of 64 in Prince George Co., VA.²⁰¹³⁵ Lucy Temple and Joyce Temple Barnett came to differing conclusions about the dates of birth of the children, assigning them to different wives. Lucy favored later dates, putting them as the issue of Mary G. Callum, whereas Joyce put them in the 1790 timeframe and therefore issue of Isabella Parham. The differences seem to arise from an incomplete search of the 1810 and 1820 censuses by Lucy. She gives only Allen and a female of age 16-26 in the 1810, whereas Joyce gives 2 males of different categories and two females of different categories for the same census. Thus Lucy ignores Hannah's presence in the first marriage. My reading of the 1810 census agrees with Joyce's, so Lucy's misinterpretation is difficult to understand.

The problems do not end there, however. Andrew Allen shows up in the 1850 census as age 20, with Mary, age 53 living with him. There is no way to he could have been born as shown in Joyce's dating. Parents: Burwell TEMPLE-17159 and HERBERT-33465.
