This may just be a confusion in the enumeration, a reflection that her actual birth mother remarried, or some thing else. The 1920 and 1930 censuses need to be scrutinized to decipher this problem. The 1910 census probably holds the key, where she claimed her marriage to Vernon was her second. She apparently married a Ressaguie first, and her maiden name was Merchant.
