This would be hard to prove, but in favor of this is their absence in the censuses and other records, and the lack of any other known Charles/Helen combination known in MO or the surrounding states. There's always the chance that they were just simply missed in earlier or later enumerations, but that possibility is low because of their lack of any other records as well.
