This view is not accepted here. Research by Maggy Wilcox who visited the grave site includes the tombstone inscription: "In memory of Mrs. Betsy, wife of Mr. Ira Temple. Formerly wife of Mr. John P. Maynard. who died July 19, 1828. AE 39." This was verified by Charlotte Holbrook, who called the place Bear Hill Cemetery, Marlboro, MA, not Evergreen Cemetery. The Walcott Genealogy has obviously confused Betsey with another woman of similar name. This Betsy was buried next to John Maynard at Spring Hill Cemetery.
