He died of a hemorrhage at the home of his son-in-law Dr. C.H. Brothers, husband of his daughter Eleanor. Buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Paducah, KY. His obituary said he was the last survivor of his siblings - though none were named. At least this indicates he had brothers and sisters.

In 1860, however, we find Johnston and Rebecca Temple in Fermanagh Twp., with their son John ae 26, but living nearby was one Enry Stoner, which in itself doesn't mean anything, but it might be a clue.
