Spouse: Lydia Virginia (Jinny or Ginny) CAULEY-28148. Lydia Virginia (Jinny or Ginny) CAULEY and William L. TEMPLE(S) Sr. were married about 1834 in MS. The marriage to William Temple(s) needs proof, and is based on the proximity of the families through numerous moves. There may be some reason to doubt the marriage took place, although she did have children with William. Children were: William L. TEMPLE(S) Jr.-20771, Private Needham H. TEMPLE(S)-40019.

William L. TEMPLE(S) Jr.7437,63185 was born in March 1834 in MS.7438,8827,23464 He appeared in the census in September 1850 in Jones Co., MS.8825 Enumerated with the family of Thomas and Lydia Bryant, two farms away from the family of William and Almeda Temple(s). In October 1860 he was a farmer in Ellisville, Jones, MS.8827 Enumerated next door to his parents. William served in the military in 1862.7723,122816 Enlisted in Jasper Co., and served in Company K, 37th MS. He was wounded at Iuka, then captured while in the hospital in Sep 1862. It is probable that he was in Lauderdale Springs, which was also where his brother and half brother were interned. In June 1880 he was a farmer in Jones Co., MS.23464 In June 1900 he was a farmer in Jones Co., MS.7438 In May 1910 William was a farmer in Jones Co., MS.3155 He died after May 1910 at the age of 76. He has reference number RLT # U2977.24822 Temple People, Vol. 1, speculates about his descent. He may have been a son of William of Jones Co., MS, but that William would have been too young. He could also be a cousin or nephew, but the exact line is not determined. We do know that he claimed his parents were both from MS. Also, his proximity to Lorenzo J. and James Abner Temple(s) indicates he may be closely aligned to them. I believe that he must be an early son of William Temple, the father of Lorenzo and James, but probably not by his wife Almedia. The tie to William Sr. is fairly certain, since they were designated as Senior and Junior, living next door to each other in 1860 - the issue is the identification of his mother. Timing makes that most likely was Lydia Cauley, but his father, William b 1819 MS, would have been very young, and it is not at all clear that he actually married Lydia.

His son Daniel's obituary said Daniel was survived by a brother named Mack - but Mack was not found with the family prior to 1880. In 1951, Mack was living in Winnsboro, LA. Parents: William L. TEMPLE(S) Sr.-20734 and Lydia Virginia (Jinny or Ginny) CAULEY-28148.
