Elvira COLEMAN²³⁸²¹ was born on 7 December 1818 in KY. She entered a lawsuit against John McNave in 1833 in Franklin Co., MS.²³⁸²² Records in Drawer 71, Case No. 277. She died. Some sources, in order to differentiate her from her sister Elzara, said she died before 1833. That does not seem to be the case, as she was alive enough in 1833 to file a lawsuit with her husband John Temple against John McNace. Some researchers claim she and her sister Elzara were not twins, but actually were one person with different spellings. This makes some sense, in that she and John Temple entered into a lawsuit against John McNace, the particulars of which are unimportant, but the date was 1833, so she was not dead in that year. The Order of the First Families of Mississippi includes only Elzara as the daughter of Richard and Nancy Coleman, and clearly considers the two women to be the same person. She died on 16 June 1851 at the age of 32 in Lawrence Co., MS.²³⁸²⁵ Some sources credit her with another son, Silvester Temple, b 22 Feb 1833. Her name comes from the Francis Marion Furr Bible. Francis Marion Furr married Adaliza Temple, Elzara's daughter. In the Bible, the notes say that E.C. Furr was Elzara Catherine Furr, indicating she was named for her grandmother.
