Spouse: Sally Jo CURRELL-164805.
James Gary (Guerry) TEMPLE98036 was born in September 1888 in GA.6885,6886,6887,98037 Temple People, Vol. II, gave Aug 1891, as does Find-A-Grave. Gave 1891 in 1910. Gave 1907 in 1940. He appeared in the census in June 1900 in Blakely, Early, GA.6886 In April 1910 he was a meat market driver in Blakely, Early, GA.6885 James lived in Blakely, Early, GA before 1917.98038 He served in the military in 1917/8.1286 Served in Company B, 151st Machine Gun Battalion. He served in the military in 1917/8.98036,98037,98038 Dates may not be inclusive. Served as a private assigned to Company B, 151 1st Machine Gun Battalion, when he departed from Hoboken aboard the Agamemnon on 31 Oct 1917.
James died on 16 July 1918 at the age of 29 in France.1286,98037 Place of death is assumed, given the date and lack of transshipment papers for his return. He may be buried in the Blakely City Cemetery, GA. Associated with Blakely, GA, is his collection of papers in the Blakely Historical Society. He seems to be the same person enumerated in 1900 as James G. Temples. That person, in 1910, claimed to have been born in 1891 as well, though he was reported in 1900 as having a birth date of Sep 1888. Also, he was found in 1910 going by Gary, and in his later military papers as Guerry, the latter being consistent with his marriage papers. His military transshipment orders show his name was Guerry J. Temple.
Temple People, Vol., II, reported that the papers of the Blakely Historical Society said he was killed in action in WWI and may be buried in the Blakely Cemetery. Find-A-Grave lists his surname with the terminal S. It is not clear that he was brought home for burial, as the headstone in Blakely may be a cenotaph. Having died in action in France, it seems more likely, if his remains were recovered, that he was actually buried there. Parents: Manning TEMPLES-72464 and Sarah (Sallie, Sadie) -72465.
