She was the sister of Edna Stone Barrus, dau of Deacon Hiram Barrus and Augusta Stone. The reason for such a wide disparity is not clear. All data agree between the two, but they have different parents. Her grave stone gives her last name as Barrus. Stone genealogists have also indicated that Jennie was related to them, but not through her mother. Instead, they give a very different lineage, indicating that Jennie Rood Stone was the daughter of Col. Luther and Mary (JENKINS) STONE (below). I have chosen to represent the Barrus lineage because of the grave marker.

Jennie Rood Stone was the daughter of Col. Luther and Mary (JENKINS) STONE. Luther in turn was the son of Major Ambrose and Katherine (PARTRIDGE) STONE. Ambrose was born on April 29, 1757 in Harvard, Worcester, MA. He married Katherine on July 8, 1783 in Goshen, Hampshire, MA. Katherine was born on January 16, 1762 in Brookfield, Worcester, MA.

Next, Ambrose was the son of Amos and Adna (HALE) STONE. Amos was born on September 9, 1729 in Harvard, Worcester, MA. He married Adna on February 27, 1754 in Harvard, Worcester, MA. Adna was born about 1736.

Amos was the son of Captain Simon and Sarah STONE Simon was born on August 1, 1686 in Groton, Middlesex, MA. He married Sarah about 1712. Sarah was born about 1689. Captain Simon was the son of Deacon Simon and Sarah (FARNSWORTH) STONE. Deacon Simon was born on September 8, 1656 in Watertown, Middlesex, MA. He married Sarah about 1685. Sarah was born about 1663.

Finally, Deacon Simon's father was another Deacon Simon STONE, born about 1630 in Boxted, Essex, England. He immigrated about 1638 to Ipswich, Essex, MA. He was married to Mary WHIPPLE about 1655 in Bocking, Essex, England. Simon was the brother of another important STONE immigrant, Gregory, whose line is also related to the TEMPLEs.
