The DAR Genealogical Research Committee publications give her as Sally Eva May Waltman, daughter of Wilbur Wesley and Emma Belle (Dawson) Waltman. Her marriage records give her claim that her parents were E.M. and Mary L. (Allen) Dawson. The latter is given more credence.

Her father settled on Brown's Mountain in Spokane in the early 1880s. He donated land to the city of Rockford, WA, for their cemetery. The informant on her death certificate was Mrs. Edna B. Johnson, possibly her daughter. Parents: Edward M. DAWSON-62423 and Mary L. ALLEN-62424.
