It is hard to see how he might have met and married Katherine Isaacs, though, since he was committed to the hospital for the insane in the 1930 census. The report of their marriage license indicated both Avery and Katherine were in Delaware Co., PA, in 1928, While both Averys were, at about 1928, in Middletown, the one who was insane in 1930 was in Middletown, OH, while the Avery who married Katherine was in Middletown, Delaware, PA. The Avery A. Temple who was committed before 1930, though, the only one known in the census, was said to have never married. Thus, the husband of Katherine is a mystery.

In August 1870 Azariah was a laborer in Ewing, Mercer, NJ.⁸³⁴⁹⁰ Appears by himself. He appeared in the census in June 1880 in Lower Wakefield, Bucks, PA.⁸³⁴⁸⁹ Enumerated as the father-in-law of Nelson Smith. Nelson Smith was ae 45, and a widower, whose wife had previously married a Thompson, because also enumerated with them in 1880 was Anna Thompson, ae 18, who was Nelson's step-daughter. It seems reasonable that Nelson was the son of Nelson and Rebecca (Temple) Smith, where Rebecca was Azariah's sister. The younger Nelson, with whom Azariah was staying in 1880, could have married Ellen or Anna Temple, about whom I know little. He died in 1881 at the age of 73 in Trenton, Mercer, NJ.^21209,46926 Azariah has reference number RLT # 332.²³²⁷⁵ It is tempting to combine Azariah husband of Mary Mulnox with Azariah, husband of Sarah Jaquish. They are separate individuals, however, based on the frequency of the appearance of three Azariahs in the 1860 census of NJ. At one time, I had these two Azariahs as the same person, but the ten year discrepancy in their ages and the census forced me to separate them. They appear to be related somehow, but I do not know how. Possibly they are close cousins, but that remains to be proved. It is possible that some of their children are confused between them.
