There iwas also a line through James P. Temple in Juniata Co., PA, who married on Ann Stoner. James P. was not born until about 1861, but his father could be a sibling of John's, or a nephew. So - the families look like they are close, but how they connect is not yet clear.

Applied for pension 14 Jan 1848 in Essex Co, VT, New Hampshire Record R10450. Enlisted in Westmoreland, Cheshire Co, NH where he was living. Son Ralph referred to in 1855 in Westmoreland VT, at which time Jonas was dead. Served one year, "and was then discharged 'on account of a bunch on my neck;' received a written discharge, 'but being a boy who could neither read nor write I took no care of it and it was lost.'

Some Temple Pedigrees, and Rise of the Temples following it, list another daughter, Huldah, without dates. By sworn affidavit of Martha Gardner Relf, a descendant of Huldah Temple, the data found on page 43 is erroneous, and should apply to Huldah on p. 27. Jonas TEMPLE⁴⁵⁹⁰⁰ was born on 5 August 1780 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.^{22177,26473,45899,45900} He moved before 1830 in Westport, Cheshire, NH.^{11530,18530,35825} In 1850 he was a mechanic in Swanzey, Cheshire, NH.⁴⁵⁸⁹⁹ Jonas died on 8 June 1854 at the age of 73 in Westport, Cheshire, NH.^{7255,11530,45900} Buried in the Homestead (Old) Cemetery, Swanzey, NH. His death and burial were confused by Rise of the Temples with another Jonas Temple, who was said to have died in Swanzey NH. I suspect the other Jonas, b 1766 in Westmoreland, NH, near to Swanzey, has the better claim to the date. He has reference number RLT # 8FF.⁶¹⁰¹ The dates of his first two marriages need some resolution. The data conflicts, indicating he may not have been the Jonas who married Lydia Moore. The problem is that he married Betsey Hunt (apparently) on 10 Oct 1811 in Boylston, and that conflicts with his marriage to Lydia Moore on 10 Dec 1811 also in Boylston. Parents: Lt. Spouse: Lydia MOORE-26335. Lydia MOORE and Jonas TEMPLE were married on 10 December 1811 in Boylston, Worcester, MA.¹⁷³³⁶ Some sources claim that it was Betsey Hunt that married Jonas on this date. However, these are from secondary sources, even those that are recording the Vital Records of Boylston. I do not think that the marriage to Betsey Hunt is real - but I am willing to look at proof. Children were: Caroline TEMPLE-23598.

Spouse: Betsy HUNT-20998. Betsy HUNT and Jonas TEMPLE were married about 1820. The marriage to Jonas is from secondary sources only. This appears to be a mistake.

He died on 19 June 1818 at the age of 34 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA.^23,3711 Reported to have had 3 children, but names are presently unknown. Parents: Jonas TEMPLE-167 and Sarah WOODS-900.

Jonas TEMPLE was born on 28 August 1792 in Boylston, Worcester, MA.²³ He died before 1796 at the age of 4. It seems likely he died before his father. In 1796, Jonas' two siblings were both placed with guardians following the death of their father, but no records indicate the fate of Jonas. Parents: Francis TEMPLE-27564 and Eunice BROOKS-20985.

Jonas TEMPLE⁷⁰⁵⁸¹ was born on 15 December 1794 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.^{10442,70581,93295} In 1850 he was a farmer in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.⁴⁰⁹²⁶ He had his estate probated in 1852 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.¹⁰⁸³⁴⁷ Estate turned over to an administrator. Jonas died on 24 August 1852 at the age of 57 in Shrewsbury, Worcester, MA.^{23,70581,108348,108349} Buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury, MA.
