Benjimin Floyd (Floyd) TEMPLE was born on 5 July 1894 in Seneca, Thomas, NE.148,56171,83938,84127,84128,84129 In 1917 he was a farm laborer in York, York, NE.84129 He served in the military in 1918/9.84130,84131 Enlisted 27 May 1918. Departed Brooklyn for France aboard the Delta, 11 Aug 1918. At the time, he was a corporal in Company A, 350th Infantry.

350th INFANTRY REGIMENT, 88th INFANTRY DIVISION was constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as the 350th Infantry and assigned to the 88th Division. Organized 27 August 1917 at Camp Dodge, IA; demobilized 5-8 June 1919 at Camp Dodge.
The Regimental Headquarters, Headquarters Company, the 1st Battalion, Medical Detachment, Machine Gun Company and Supply Company of the 350th Infantry, which sailed on H. M.S. Delta on 11 Aug 1918, arriving at Tilbury-on-Thames, 25 Aug, and at Cherbourg, 29 Aug.
The first regiments to occupy the trenches with the French were the 350th and 351st Infantry regiments. Each placed two battalions in the front line and one in support. The first casualties in action in the Division came on the night of October 12th-13th when the enemy launched a raid on the 2d Battalion.
The north half of the division sector saw little of the enemy during the month of October. On 19 Oct, the 3rd Battalion of the 349th Infantry relieved the 1st Battalion of the 350th Infantry in the Center of Resistance Gildwiller and the 3d Battalion of the 350th Infantry took over the Center of Resistance Balschwiller from the 2d Battahon of the same regiment at approximately the same time. By this time, the Germans had been sufficiently impressed with the fighting qualities of the Americans to keep carefully out of hand-to-hand range. As a result, there was httle further activity on their part aside from occasional patrol, few of which ever penetrated our wire.
The American troops, on the other hand, entered No-Man's Land every night almost where they pleased. The German trenches were frequently explored and all sorts of German equipment, including gas alarms, telephone apparatus, and trench signs were brought back as souvenirs.
The 3rd Battalion, 350th Infantry, was relieved in Center of Resistance Balschwiller by the 2d Battalion, 349th Infantry, on 29 Oct.
Little else could be found on the unit's war experience.
Served as a private first class in the 88th Military Police Group, Military Police Corps before returning to the US, and thereafter served with them at Camp Dodge, IA.
As a private first class, he sailed aboard the USS Konigen der Netherlanden from St. Nazaire, France on 22 May 1919, and arrived at Newport News.
Discharged 15 Jun 1919. Service number 3228741. Pension number 16 015 622. In January 1920 Benjimin was a farm laborer in York, York, NE.56171 Enumerated with his mother. His parents were from IL (father) and NE (mother). His middle name derives from an obituary of his grandson Larry W. Temple, son of Charles Gary Temple. His given name also appears often as Benjimin in NE birth records for his children, and as Benjamin in other places. Parents: Charles Robert TEMPLE-28229 and Arminta Ann (Mint) MC ALPINE-28263.
